For the first time since returning to racing in 2017, MAD Motorsports netted a top 5 finish. The #14 Majestic Athletics Tundra finished 5th in the first race of the week at Dover International Speedway. The truck rolled off in the very back of the field of twenty-some cars yesterday. Team crew members attributed the gain in positions to good, patient driving. After only two caution runs, the driver was able to work through traffic on saved tires. Critical passes were made to break into the lead group of drivers. The driver, on the other hand, credited the crew. "They made the call not to pit on that last yellow. We had 6 laps left roughly and everyone behind us went in for tires. Everyone in front had old tires and so we had to hope for a quick yellow. I had a good restart but the #3 Yeti truck got a quick run high out of two. I moved up to take the line and he corrected into the wall, causing the closeout yellow. I didn't mean it to be a block, but he may have taken it that way. I'm sorry for it but that's just racing." the driver said today. The team will remain at Dover for this week for Cup and Truck events throughout.

Meanwhile, the road team's day ended early at Road America in the Audi. The team rolled out with the Mid-Ohio setup, which felt drove comfortably but slower. After first green flag stops jumbled the field, the #15 Audi hit a patch of grass during breaking into a sharp corner. The car pulled off the left and hit a concrete barrier, causing serious damage to the front and wheels. "We had time to fix it, but the field was too strong and cost outweighed the need to finish today. Unfortunately we lost some safety points today. On the other hand, if we put a damaged race car out there it would likely have been worse." the team manager said. Mad already met the needed requirements for Class A license promotion next week. The team has indicated that they may pack up the car this week and get that license before running again in the road series. "We want to be cautious. It's been 7 years in the making to get this license and we don't need to lose anymore cars this week. We have a good showing in Dover so we will be seriously considering heading to the shop with the Audi." The team did not indicate if they would work with any other road cars this week before entering into week 13.
