Week In Review: Michigan, Le Mans, Grand Prix Practice
After a long off week, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans under the teams belt it was time to focus on the new regular season races. MAD chose to enter the xFinity Series at Michigan this week with the Dunkin Donuts Toyota Camry. The team entered the open setup series in the back of pack after not qualifying for the events. "Our setup was just a bit tight" said the driver, "but we had one caution each race and it came in faster than most of the field on long runs. I tried to save tires and that paid off." The MM Toyota would battle through the field and come away with two top ten finishes, 10th and 7th. The first run would be a last lap, turn 4 pass of two cars to round out the top group. "That was the most fun I've had in years running a car" the driver said post-race. "We need to hit the open set series often, show what we can do."
The team returned to Le Mans, bringing out the Audi for the Blancpain Series. The team took to the track with a solid engine. Green flag contact would stifle a chance for a close run after another car connected with the MM Audi and pushed both off track. The team recovered and was able to move closer up the order. After pitting, the car was connected with once again while making a pass in the same corner. The car would be severely damaged but would continue to checkered without repairs. The team will leave Le Mans and look to next year for an opportunity at redemption.
The Mcclaren MP4-30 was unveiled earlier in the week followed by several rounds of testing and practice at Circuit Giles-Villenueve in Montreal. The team hopes to make the first start this weekend, but have made no assurances they will be ready.
