Carnage at Daytona Marks Difficult Week

The team rolled out all oval cars at Daytona for fourth of July weekend, the first time running a superspeedway since the recent return to racing. Mad Motorsports has a rich history of running restrictor plate racing, and has many podium finishes under its belt. That would not be the story this weekend, however. The team left the track with a damaged truck and Ford Fusion. The run was promising in both the truck series and the Nascar Iracing Cup Series events. A three wide pinch by the 19 Toyota would cause the new LA Dodgers truck to impact the wall and wreck several others. "It was a stupid move, I can understand three wide late in the race...but that wasn't the time. He didn't keep his line and came up on me. I had nowhere to go." the driver said post-race.

The team also unveiled it's latest scheme as the Publix sponsored car took to the track Sunday night. The car lasted through 40+ laps and several major wrecks before being taken out in a three car wreck. The car was running in the top ten when an argument broke out over communication channels with two drivers ahead of the MM car. "The best I can tell, they argued over one not wanting to take it two lines and made the other check up. It was smart to keep it one line as we were pulling away. The other guy didn't like what he heard and dumped him in the corner. It was a low move and I have no respect for it. It took out a good car on our end." Frustration was the name of the game, but the team looks to rebound at Kentucky this week. A favorite track among the team.

Meanwhile, the road team made a quiet and uneventful start at Circuit Giles-Villenuvue. The road program still works to grow and develop. The Blancpain team moves to Lime Rock Park this week; while the Ford GTE will land in Canada for the IMSA Series.
