MAD Takes 5th in July 4th Event

Mad Motorsports walked off with a top five finish in the only event run for the team on the fourth of July. The team ran the Dunkin Donuts Toyota Camry in the xFinity Series, under the lights at Kentucky. The car rolled off with a MM modified engine. "We couldn't find the speed we wanted early" the crew chief said. "The right front was running our and it really slowed us in the first run. We made some adjustments to get the car rolling through the turn and it really helped him."

Several cautions and a few longer green runs dotted the 100 lap event. The racing was close, and dicey. The MM Camry would get involved in a late race incident causing contact and a spin, but no damage. "It was my fault" the driver said of the incident. "We were side by side for several laps, neither of us could get the pass done on old tires. I got impatient and cut up too early to secure the spot. I bumped him and thankfully only I spun. We controlled it and didn't hit anything. It could have been much worse.

The team celebrated the top 5, and also the first race in years where laps were led. Despite being under caution, the team says it's a step in the right direction. "We've got to feel we belong up there. That's been half the problem. We start in the back and don't want to mess up. Sometimes we have to be there to get a win.
